Parent Forum Activites

What is a parents/carers forum?

A Parent/Carers Forum is a group of parents who get together to share their opinions and ideas about issues that affect them and their families.  We encourage parents to voice their opinions on the delivery of current activities, proposed future activities and any other relevant issues that may arise, to value parent’s opinions and to “hear their voice”.

Who is the Forum for?

The forum is for parents/carers of children under the age of five in the Hertsmere Children’s Centre area. We encourage members to attend but if you attend our groups but are not a member, then you are welcome too.  No experience is necessary to be involved, just enthusiasm and a commitment of approximately two hours, three times a year.

What can I expect?

A friendly welcome! The meetings are held in an informal environment, where refreshments are available.  We will then have updates from Sure Start Children’s Centre staff on what has been happening and discuss any new issues.  Staff  bring their ideas for groups to the forum to see what parents think.  There is usually a selection of staff members available to answer any questions you may have.  An opportunity to meet other parents to exchange ideas and information.

Why have a Parents/Carers Forum?

The ideas that the parent’s forum discuss help Hertsmere Children’s Centre to develop activities that match families actual needs and to try to get the BEST services for your child and ultimately your family.
