Extended Schools
Services and Activities
What is an Extended School?
A school working in partnership to provide access to a range of services and activities to improve children’s achievements and life chances. By 2010 all schools will
be able to offer throughout the year:
- from 8am - 6pm childcare for primary age children and “A safe place to be” for secondary age children.
- a variety of activities & services for the whole family
- parenting support and Family Learning programmes
- referral to specialist support services
- access by the community to schools’ facilities and Adult Learning programmes
