Why not join us at our new drop-in sessions for both pregnant and breastfeeding mums and their families. These sessions offer a friendly and relaxing environment to meet other mums plus access support from trained staff

This service is based at the Furzefield Children’s Centre on a Tuesday afternoon. Parents and Carers with children under 6 years old can access a wide range of computer based courses. The courses range from single courses such as: Buying on line, Understanding Facebook and Job searching, to accredited courses in English, Maths and ITQ. For more information on the range of courses available please contact Progression2 on 01707 272694 or text ‘furzefield’ to 07411 705139 and they will contact you as soon as possible.

Creative Play back to top

A drop in class for you and your child to come along and enjoy a range of messy play activities. The activities will be provided and co-coordinated by a member of the Children’s Centre Team. Please dress your children in suitable clothing for messy play. Recommended for 1-5 year olds.“Despite appearances, creative play can make an enormous contribution to babies’ and young children’s cognitive and creative development” – Early years foundation stage

About Boys Course (0–5 yrs) back to top

The About Boys Course (ABC) aims to give mums more understanding of their son’s development and behaviour. This 4 week course aims to help parents understand their son and also provides a series of techniques to encourage him to listen, engage and accept discipline and boundaries.

Fun for Under 1's back to top

This session is for children under 1 years and their parents/carers. Children will be given the opportunity to explore and play with lots of different equipment and resources in a safe and stimulating environment.

Practical Parent Helper Course back to top

Practical Parent Helpers will give you background knowledge, practical ideas and an understanding of how children learn. Topics include:

An introduction to Early Years Foundation stage, health and safety, the national curriculum, communicating with children, behaviour issues and more....

This 5 week course is suitable for parents or carers of 3-7 year-olds. Informal learning in a friendly group led by an experienced adult education tutor.

Parents Room back to top

Parents and Carers of children under 5 are welcome to access our new parent’s room. There is a wide range of resources including books on child development and parenting. With FREE internet access parents will be able to search for jobs, write CV’s or research different topics. Talk to a member of staff for more information.

Singing and Stories (0–5 yrs) back to top

Come along and take part in an interactive story session with your child. Following the story the children will have the opportunity to join in a fun singing group where your child can learn new songs as well as develop their rhythm using a variety of musical instruments. Sharing stories is a great way to improve children’s early literacy skills.
