PB1 Parking

The school have a new car park which is available for families accessing PB1 Children’s Centre. Access is via Featherstone Close and veer left. There are several designated parking spaces for Disabled Access.

Directions to PB1 Children’s Centre

From the High Street run down Oakmere Lane and follow the road all the way down until it becomes Chace Avenue. PB1 Children’s centre is in Oakmere Primary Schools on the left past Stamford Close. Look for the traffic sign to PB1 Children’s Centre at

  • the junction of Southgate Road and Park Avenue
  • the junction of High Street and Oakmere Lane

Are you pregnant and interested in breastfeeding? Are you already breastfeeding and want to meet other mums? Need answers to breastfeeding questions? Why not join us at our new drop-in sessions for both pregnant and breastfeeding mums and their families. These sessions offer a friendly and relaxing environment to meet other mums plus access support from trained staff

Rhythm and Rhyme (0–5 yrs) back to top

This is a fun singing group where your child can learn new songs as well as develop their rhythm using a variety of musical instruments. This session will help to develop your child’s listening skills within a group setting.

Baby Rhythm and Rhyme (0–18 months) back to top

Come and join us for a fun music session. These sessions will be run by Children’s centre staff and encourage Parents or Carers to interact with their babies through singing and movement.

Parents Room back to top

Parents and Carers of children under 5 are welcome to access our new parent’s room. There is a wide range of resources including books on child development and parenting. With FREE internet access parents will be able to search for jobs, write CV’s or research different topics. Talk to a member of staff for more information.

The Baby Café is a network of drop-in sessions which support breastfeeding mothers. We believe that every breastfeeding mum deserves free, top quality help and support

Creative Play back to top

A drop in class for you and your child to come along and enjoy a range of messy play activities. The activities will be provided and co-coordinated by a member of the Children’s Centre Team. Please dress your children in suitable clothing for messy play. Recommended for 1-5 year olds.“Despite appearances, creative play can make an enormous contribution to babies’ and young children’s cognitive and creative development” – Early years foundation stage

Wednesday

Play & Stay (0-5 yrs) back to top

A fun filled session which brings together all your children’s favorite activities. Activities will encourage and support you child’s development in a safe and stimulating environment. Activities on offer will cover the six areas of learning and development (creative, physical, personal social and emotional, communication language and literacy, problem solving reasoning numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world) this is a great opportunity for you and your child to make friends with families in your local community.

Speech and Language– Advice sessions at Play and Stay

Toy Library back to top

It works as an ordinary library enabling people to hire toys and equipment for short periods of time at very reasonable costs. To find out how to become a member pick up one of our Toy Library leaflets or speak to one of the Children’s Centre staff to find out more. You can pre-order toys and even get Home delivery!

Post Natal Group back to top

This is a 2 hour 5 week course for mum’s with new babies. Children’s Centre staff will be working closely with the Health Visitors to provide informative and useful sessions covering a range of topics including Mums well being, routines, minor ailments, safety and play. A health visitor will be present at the end of each session for parents to talk to. Refreshments will be available for the last half an hour giving mums the opportunity to talk to other parents and babies the opportunity to make new friends.

Time: 1.00 pm – 2.00 pm.
Dates: Starting on 4th January

Baby clinic is run by our local Health Visitor team. It is an opportunity for you to receive support and advice on a wide range of family health issues.

Thursday

Parenting Puzzle (3–7 yrs)

The Parenting Puzzle is a course which is run over 8 weeks. It encourages parents/carer’s to enjoy bringing up their children and how they can get the very best out of family life. It will enable parents/ carer’s to understand how our emotions can influence our actions and facilitators offer many practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle their feelings and control their behaviour. Best suited for parents/carers of children aged 3 years and over.

Time: 10.00 – 12 noon
Dates: 2nd February – 29th March

Are you under 25? Do you want to be able to meet other young parents and share experiences? If the answer is ‘yes’ then this is the group for you. Each week the Children’s Centre team will set up a room full of exciting activities for you and your child to enjoy, from messy play to singing and stories.

Move it back to top

This is a session designed to help children develop their physical skills. They will be given the opportunity to climb over and crawl under apparatus, practice their ball skills and take part in fun obstacle courses. This session is recommended Toddlers and above.

Mini Move It (1–2 yrs) back to top

This session is similar to Move It but is aimed at children between 1 and 2 years old. Children’s Centre staff will provide a range of activities to help develop your child physical skills and improve co-ordination.

Baby Massage back to top

Baby Massage is run over 5 weeks by IAIM qualified instructors. You will learn: to massage your baby, using approved strokes and techniques and about the benefits of massage.

Saturday

Dads Play and Stay back to top

This session will provide dad’s grandfathers and all male carers with a fun activity session on a Saturday morning. A wide variety of toys and activities will be on offer and we will even provide adults with a bacon buttie!!!

Dates: 21st May, 18th June, 16th July

Family First Aid back to top

The sessions will focus on family first aid and you will learn about resuscitation and how to manage emergency situations. Led by an Experienced First Aid Trainer
