Baby Café Local

Are you pregnant and interested in breastfeeding? Are you already breastfeeding and want to meet other mums? Need answers to breastfeeding questions? Why not join us at our new drop-in sessions for both pregnant and breastfeeding mums and their families. These sessions offer a friendly and relaxing environment to meet other mums plus access support from trained staff

Monday

Child Health Clinic back to top

Baby clinic is run by our local Health Visitor team. It is an opportunity for you to receive support and advice on a wide range of family health issues

Where: Hartspring Community Centre

Breastfeeding Social back to top

This service is run by volunteers trained by the Breastfeeding Network. Come along and receive one to one support, advice and guidance whilst meeting other new mums. There is also book borrowing service on offer.

The sessions will offer the children the opportunity to explore and discover physical activities to popular music.

Tuesday

Rhythm & Rhyme back to top

Come and join us for a fun music session. These sessions will be run by Children’s centre staff and encourage young children to listen to and join in with rhymes and songs. We will also explore musical instruments and the sounds they make.

Fun with Stories (2-5 yrs) back to top

This session shares well known popular stories in a different way. Watch and take part in making “Going on a bear hunt” come alive, “Elmer the colorful elephant” can live in your home or decorate a biscuit for when “Tiger comes to tea”.

Wednesday

Play & Stay (0-5 yrs) back to top

A fun filled session which brings together all your children’s favorite activities. Activities will encourage and support you child’s development in a safe and stimulating environment. Activities on offer will cover the six areas of learning and development (creative, physical, personal social and emotional, communication language and literacy, problem solving reasoning numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world) this is a great opportunity for you and your child to make friends with families in your local community.

Toy Library back to top

It works as an ordinary library enabling people to hire toys and equipment for short periods of time at very reasonable costs. To find out how to become a member pick up one of our Toy Library leaflets or speak to one of the Children’s Centre staff to find out more. You can pre-order toys and even get Home delivery!

Parenting Puzzle (3–7 yrs)

The Parenting Puzzle is a course which is run over 8 weeks. It encourages parents/carer’s to enjoy bringing up their children and how they can get the very best out of family life. It will enable parents/ carer’s to understand how our emotions can influence our actions and facilitators offer many practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle their feelings and control their behaviour. Best suited for parents/carers of children aged 3 years and over.

Where: Bushey Mill Children’s Centre.

Thursday

Hands on Creative Play (1–5 yrs) back to top

A drop in class for you and your child to come along and enjoy a range of messy play activities. The activities will be provided and co-coordinated by a member of the Children’s Centre Team. Please dress your children in suitable clothing for messy play “Despite appearances, messy play can make an enormous contribution to babies’ and young children’s cognitive and creative development” – Early years foundation stage

New Mums Post Natal Group back to top

This is a 4 week rolling programme for mum’s and their new babies. Children Centre staff will be working closely with local Heath Visitors to provide information and support on a wide range of relevant topics. For further details please contact you local Children’s Centre.

Post Natal Toning back to top

These classes are run by a qualified instructor and helps mothers ease back into exercise after the birth of their baby/babies. Sessions are designed to specifically target key areas and improve wellbeing.

Baby Rhythm & Rhyme back to top

Come and join us for a fun music session. These sessions will be run by Children’s centre staff and encourage Parents or Carers to interact with their babies in singing and movement.

Come along to a drop-in session designed for parents/carers of children under the age of 1. It’s a great opportunity to meet other new parents. Children’s Centre staff are available throughout the session to offer support and advice. The session ends with a sing song and free refreshments in our Community Café.
