Many of the sessions are FREE – however donations are always welcome and collection boxes are available at every session. You will also be asked to complete a registration form.

Parent and Child Learning Sessions

Play and Stay

Come along and enjoy a range of fun and stimulating early learning activities with your children. The session includes free nutritious snacks for the children. Children’s Centre staff organise and lead these sessions. Please dress your children suitably for messy sessions.

123 Cook with Me

These three sessions are designed by a registered dietician as a way for families to explore and cook healthy foods together. There will be lots of hands on experience for adults and children and an opportunity to sit together and eat the food you have prepared Who: For parents and carers with 2-5 year olds

Top Tots

Top Tots is an award winning programme developed by the Youth Sport Trust and fully trained staff. Parents / carers and children work together participating in fun activities. Sessions are limited to one session per week per family. Parents / carers reminded that they are responsible for their child’s safety during these sessions.

Creative Play Workshops NEW!

A bookable 3 week course for you and your child to come along and enjoy a range of messy play activities. The activities will be provided and co-coordinated by a member of the Children’s Centre Team. Please dress your children in suitable clothing for messy play.“Despite appearances, messy play can make an enormous contribution to babies’ and young children’s cognitive and creative development” – Early years foundation stage.

Rhythm & Rhyme NEW

Come and join us for a fun music session. These sessions will be run by Children’s centre staff and encourage young children to listen to and join in with rhymes and songs. We will also explore musical instruments and the sounds they make. These sessions are for children from 1-2 years old.

Parenting Puzzle

The Parenting Puzzle is run over 8 weeks. It encourages parents and carers to enjoy bringing up children and getting the best out of family life. It will help you understand how emotions influence our actions and offers many positive, practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle both their feelings and their behavior.

Baby Massage

Baby Massage is run over 5 weeks by qualified instructors. You will learn: to massage your baby, using approved strokes and techniques about the benefits of massage.

Courses to suit all learners from beginners to those already in the know. Parent/Carer Support

Baby Clinic

Baby clinic is run by our local Health Visitor team. It is an opportunity for you to receive supportand advice on a wide range of family health issues. Afterwards you may like to join us at Starjumps Café for a FREE tea or coffee.

Breastfeeding Group

Run by volunteers trained by the Breastfeeding Network. Come and get one to one support, meet other mothers and borrow books about breastfeeding.

Crèche

Crèche sessions are available for a maximum of 2 hours for parents attending services at The BECC Children’s Centre. Parents / carers not accessing services will be limited to 1 hour per child in the crèche. Prior to your child attending their first crèche session, parents will need to complete the Children’s Centre registration form which includes a medical form. A contribution of £1 per child per session is payable at The BECC reception.

Run by professionally trained counsellors. If you require some confidential sessions please contact the Centre and one of our counsellors will ring you back to make an appointment. These sessions are FREE – but donations are always welcome.

Toy Library

It works as an ordinary library enabling people to hire toys and equipment for short periods of time at very reasonable costs. To find out how to become a member pick up one of our Toy Library leaflets or speak to one of the Children’s Centre staff to find out more. You can preorder toys and even get Home delivery!

Transition to Preschool – for Adults

Fun Play for Parents & Children

Soft Play / Sensory Room

If you have never visited a sensory room, why not arrange to come along with your child. They can enjoy the soft play equipment and together you can experience sights and sounds. This room is used by parents of children with disabilities and our own Starjumps Nursery and appointment times are available outside the sessional times.
