Are you pregnant and interested in breastfeeding? Are you already breastfeeding and want to meet other mums? Need answers to breastfeeding questions? Why not join us at our new drop-in sessions for both pregnant and breastfeeding mums and their families. These sessions offer a friendly and relaxing environment to meet other mums plus access support from trained staff

Monday

Childminders Group (0–5 years) back to top

A group exclusively for childminders. The group will be set up by the Children’s Centre staff and is for childminders and their children to enjoy play in a stimulating environment.

Where: Abbots Langley Community Centre
Time: 9:30am-11:30am
Dates: 16th January, 30th January, 20th February, 5th March, 19th March

Child Health Clinic (0–5 years) back to top

Baby Clinic is run by our local Health Visitor Team. It is an opportunity for you to receive support and advice on a wide range of family health issues. Children’s Centre staff are also available to answer any questions you may have.

Where: St Saviors Church Hall, Abbots Langley
Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Dates: All year round excluding Bank Holidays.

Tuesday

Bumps and Babies (0–18months) back to top

An opportunity for mums to be and parents/carers of children under 18 months to meet up on a weekly basis in a safe and stimulating environment. Children’s Centre staff are available throughout the session to offer support and advice if needed

Time: 1:30pm to 3:00pm

Weaning Talks back to top

A Health Visitor will be at this group on 24th January and 6th March to deliver weaning talks.

Save a Life back to top

Learn how to save a child or baby’s life. You will be given the opportunity to practice doing Baby & Child Recovery, Baby & Child CPR and Baby & Child Choking- plus lots of relevant and important information regarding burns, cuts, head injuries etc.

Creative Play back to top

A drop in class for you and your child to come along and enjoy a range of messy play activities. The activities will be provided and co-coordinated by a member of the Children’s Centre Team. Please dress your children in suitable clothing for messy play. Recommended for 1-5 year olds.“Despite appearances, creative play can make an enormous contribution to babies’ and young children’s cognitive and creative development” – Early years foundation stage

An Educational Psychologist is available to give you an opportunity to talk about your child’s behaviour and development

This is a session designed to help children develop their physical skills. They will be given the opportunity to climb over and crawl under apparatus, practice their ball skills and take part in fun obstacle courses. This session is recommended Toddlers and above.

Funky Monkey Movers back to top

Help develop your child’s physical development and listening skills through this lively music session.

Play & Stay (0-5 yrs) back to top

A fun filled session which brings together all your children’s favorite activities. Activities will encourage and support you child’s development in a safe and stimulating environment. Activities on offer will cover the six areas of learning and development (creative, physical, personal social and emotional, communication language and literacy, problem solving reasoning numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world) this is a great opportunity for you and your child to make friends with families in your local community.

A Speech & Language Therapy Assistant will be available at this group on 2nd February and 15th March

Baby Massage (2–8 mths) back to top

This is A 5 week course run by IAIM qualified instructors. You will learn to massage your baby using approved strokes and techniques whilst learning about the vast benefits, to both mum and baby, of baby massage. This is a lovely session for new parents with discussions and lots of advice and support if needed.

Welcome to the World – New Mums Group (0–6months) back to top

They early weeks with a baby can be full of mixed emotions. Gaining a network of friends in these early days is important and helpful. Why not sign up for this course, meet new mums and gain some useful knowledge in areas such as 1st Aid and childhood immunisations.

Emergency First Aid – 4 hour course back to top

The sessions will focus on family first aid and you will learn about resuscitation and how to manage emergency situations. Led by an Experienced First Aid Trainer.
