Parenting Puzzle

What is Parenting Puzzle?

Parents/carers attending the 8 week Parenting Puzzle have thoroughly enjoyed attending this course and are amazed that strategies and tools given by facilitators on how to communicate effectively with their families have actually worked. General consensus is that family life is more enjoyable and children’s behaviour has improved enormously.

Comments from parents

“I didn’t realize how much my feelings were affecting my child’s behaviour”
“I am enjoying being a parent much more now and feel more in control of my child’s behaviour”
“I’m a more confident parent and life at home is nicer since I attended this course”

About Boys

Mums have exclaimed “It works – it’s a miracle!”

Mums attending a four session About Boys Programme are thrilled to see techniques they have learnt whilst attending this Course are actually working and successful when used on their sons.

Mothers with sons under the age of five are being equipped with strategies and information so they can understand why boys do what they do and what motivates them.

The course provides an opportunity for mothers to learn about their sons and to be able to recognise behaviours in their sons that may be as a result of being a boy.

In addition, the course looks at why boys do what they do and what motivates boys. Some other themes covered are boys and emotions, communication skills, preparing boys for school, discipline and boundaries.

The course really explores the differences between boys and girls and how boys think and learn. It aims to give mothers increased understanding, techniques and confidence to support their sons through difficulties.

Comments from parents:

"the course has given me even more confidence and control”
“very informative and useful”
“made me realise I was not doing so badly after all”
“I love my son but since using techniques suggested, I like him too”
“I understand now that he is not ignoring me on purpose – so I’m not so cross with him all the time”
“I’ve stopped shouting – hurray!”

24/7 Tools for Young Parents

Parenting is a 24/7 job, whatever age you are. This is an exciting new programme for young parents to give them the opportunity to think about their new life, both as parents and young adults, to raise aspirations and increase confidence. Topics explored include positive relationships, budgeting skills and lifestyle issues including drugs and alcohol.

Comments from parents:

“I love attending this Course – I’ve learnt so much and enjoy meeting other young mums & dads”
“Recently moving to the area I didn’t know many people here, my Health Visitor suggested I attend the 24/7 group. It’s lovely to meet with other young parents and share ideas. 24/7 gives me something to look forward to every week!”
“The group talks about real life issues in a very fun and relaxed way.”

Parenting Support Group (0-5 yrs)

This is for parents to meet other parents and discuss and support the development of their children. This group gives parents a chance to meet and talk about how their child is developing. A great opportunity for parents to get the chance to share information and give other parents valuable tips and strategies on how we can make parenting as enjoyable an experience as possible.
